Masuk kedalam famili Muraenidae dan Ophichthidae, Hidup di Terumbu karang dan berbatu, 0–68 m; sirip punggung tinggi dan berpangkal tepat sebelum bukaan insang, warna dapat berubah, bintik hitam kecil sering membentuk 4 barisan bintik yang lebih besar yang tak teratur, terkadang dengan retikulum kuning, tepi sirip punggung dan sirip dubur putih dekat ujung ekor; Indo–Pasifik Barat; 80 cm.

Pacific; to 80 cm.
