Masuk kedalam famili Serranidae, Hidup di Terumbu karang, kedalaman 0–40 m; sirip punggung dengan 9 duri dan 15–17 jari lunak, sirip ekor membulat, 9 jari lunak pada sirip dubur, tubuh dan sirip coklat tua dengan banyak bintik biru kecil (bertepi gelap), 5 atau 6 baris pucat pada bagian belakang tubuh dan area pucat di atas dada; Indo–Pasifik Barat; sampai 60 cm.

Enter the Serranidae family, Live on Coral reefs, to 40 m depth; dorsal fin with 9 spines and 15–17 soft rays, caudal fin rounded, 9 anal-fin rays, body and fins dark brown with numerous small blue spots (dark-edged), 5 or 6 pale bars on rear part of body and a pale area over chest; Indo–W. Pacific; to 60 cm.
